Break and Steal an Egg: Beginner Guide — The Loop, Zones & First Upgrades

How the break-hatch-steal loop works in Break and Steal an Egg: every zone, the cash-per-second economy, and the first upgrades to buy.

Break and Steal an Egg is a heist wrapped in a pet collector. You hatch rare animals out of eggs, steal them from other players, escape the guards, and park your loot in a base that prints cash. This page explains the whole loop and where your first cash should go.

The core loop

  1. Break eggs. Smash eggs out in the world — the rarer the egg, the rarer the animal that hatches out of it.
  2. Hatch & carry. Hatched animals are yours to carry. The rarer the animal, the more it’s worth — and the more everyone else wants it.
  3. Steal & escape. Other players’ bases are your shopping aisle. Grab an animal, then outrun the guards and the owner before the carry timer runs out.
  4. Bank it. Place animals in your own base. They generate cash per second while they sit there — that’s your income engine.
  5. Upgrade & repeat. Spend cash on Speed, Pickaxes, Trails and Pen capacity, then go break, hatch and steal bigger targets.

Zones you’ll run into

The map is split into zones, each with its own egg pool and guards. Higher zones hold rarer eggs — and meaner defenses.

Zone What it’s for
Forest Where everyone starts. Common eggs, gentle guards, your first few animals.
Desert The step up — better eggs, longer chases. Bring a Speed upgrade.
Galaxy High-tier Rare egg territory. Expect other players to be hunting here too.

More zones have been added in updates — this list is re-checked after every patch, and the full zone-by-zone egg tables are coming to the pets & eggs database.

Your first upgrades, in order

Upgrade Why it matters
Speed The whole game is a chase. Speed wins steals and escapes — buy this before anything flashy.
Pickaxe Better pickaxes break eggs faster, which means more hatches per run.
Trails Cosmetic on the surface, useful in practice — a trail you can see helps you judge escapes.
Pen capacity More pen slots means more animals banking cash per second while you are out stealing.

One rule before you go

The carry timer is the whole game. Grab, run, bank — greed is how you lose a Rare animal you already earned. When in doubt, bank what you have and start the next run.
